As of January 2023, we have made the decision to phase out active development on our WP Coupons plugin.
The main reason is that it has never been very profitable. It started out back in 2016 as a fun hobby and project that we eventually decided to sell and commit more time to. However, we discovered there aren’t many users in the space that actually need or use a coupon plugin.
On a positive note, this will give us more time to dedicate to our other more popular plugins, Perfmatters and Novashare, which both focus on similar goals: performance.
We will continue providing support for WP Coupons and fixing bugs as they appear. So if you run into any issues, we’re still always happy to help. We just won’t be actively developing any new features.
Timeline
We want to be as transparent as possible throughout this process.
- In January 2023, we added a banner notification to the site with a link to this doc.
- In early December 2023, we removed the ability to purchase the plugin.
- As of December 14th, 2023, we have canceled all active subscription renewals and notified customers.
- In mid to late 2024, we’ll be chatting with individuals who might be interested in taking over WP Coupons (the code, branding, domain name, etc.).
